How many Blum hinges will I need per door?

It's a question we often get asked, so we thought we'd put pen to paper! The number of Blum Hinges that you'll require depends on the height and weight of the door.

Blum's recommendations are based on a standard door that's 600mm wide, so if your door differs from this you may want to consider a trail application.

As a rule of thumb each hinge has a weight loading of 3.5KG each.

Should you door fall outside the capacity of Blum hinges as set out above, then we have a solution! We stock a heavy duty version for larger doors with a significantly increased load bearing capacity. Doors up to 800mm wide and weighing up to 25kgs need just two hinges. Doors up to 900mm wide and weighing up to 40kgs need just three hinges.
